Week Three - Scale and Context
Hello everyone, and welcome to my submission of the 3rd week of "Models In Architecture", by TUDelft. This weeks topic was "Scale and Context", which once again will be explored in physical models. It is also related to the 1st week's submission, which I added a picture below for reference.
My Guiding ThemeThe main theme of my loft is "coziness while in a concrete jungle". I like the idea of having a safe place to call my own while still have direct access and view to the city itself. Somewhere between mixing the countryside with the vivid life of a big, dense, modern urban center. A nest, like a skyscraper treehouse.

An Analytical Drawing of my design
While I perceive the whole city to be a (good) chaos, my dream home would be my place to relax and take breaks, only to once again get lost in the city and all it's wonders.
From Small to Big Scale
I started this step by making a much smaller version of my house. By that, I used a small LEGO block, which would be used to create the rest of the model. I used such material since I believe my dream house would be, in the essence, part of the modular system that is the typical floorplan and the building. The same logic can be followed for the buildings themselves, and in the end the city is nothing else than a game of placing the units (housing, commercial, culture, etc) on place and syntony.
About the surrounding, as I mentioned before it would have to be in a Worldwide known Metropolis, Sometimes, I picture it in Hong Kong. Other times in New York. Eventually even in London. Why not Seattle?

This is all for this week! Looking forward to seeing all your progresses and see you next week!
